The M-6 Motorway, also known as the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway, has received government approval for Rs.92 billion. On his visit to Sukkur, the Prime Minister unveiled the scheme, calling it Sindh’s largest construction project.
According to sources, the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) approved the transaction arrangement and feasibility gap fund for the motorway on Wednesday. The motorway is expected to cost about Rs200 billion.
The M-6 motorway project will be part of the greater eastern wing of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to the details.
The federal government had previously postponed the consideration of the proposal due to funding concerns. The cost of finance was met by the private sector in the initial proposal, but it has now been allocated Rs76 billion from the budget.
