Skardu Airport to Be Upgraded To Promote Tourism

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry recently announced that the government has decided to upgrade Skardu Airport as an international standard airport in order to promote tourism in Pakistan while upgrading the airport as an international standard airport.

Both the airports of Skardu and Gilgit would be upgraded to all – weather airports, as Skardu and Gilgit are the major tourist attraction points of Pakistan.

Furthermore, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has already domestic operational flights to Skardu. Also, recently, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has initiated Air Safari flights to Skardu to further attract tourists. The first Air Safari flight took off from Islamabad Airport having 91 tourists onboard which included foreign nationals from almost 13 countries.
