Roshan Digital Account is a major initiative of State Bank of Pakistan, in collaboration with commercial banks operating in Pakistan. These accounts provide innovative banking solutions for millions of Non Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) seeking to undertake banking, payment and investment activities in Pakistan. The Roshan Digital Account (RDA) receiving a total sum of $7.7 million was registered by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)-the highest regular remittances by Overseas Pakistanis. With $81 million invested in Naya Pakistan Certificates (NPCs), the central bank announced, the total inward remittances earned under RDA reached $139.4 million. The NPC is an initiative of the SBP-administered Ministry of Finance that provides overseas Pakistanis with amazing investment opportunities that can only be bought through RDAs. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has previously unveiled Roshan Digital Accounts in partnership with the Government of Pakistan (GoP), a digital banking solution that offers overseas Pakistanis ease of payment, including transfers of money, bill payments and investment facilities in various sectors of Pakistan, including Real Estate. RDA enables users to select any account denominated in foreign currency or rupee. In addition, if an investor wishes to withdraw the funds available, the RDA allows them to repatriate funds up to the lowest amount available. The initiative of the digital account has received an overwhelming response from overseas Pakistanis. The inflows of foreign exchange through this account also helps to maintain the reserves of the country.
