Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone for the 62-kilometer Lodhran-Multan Highway Improvement Project. The project will take two years to complete and would cost PKR 6.68 billion.
In addition, PM said that the project will strengthen connectivity, encourage long-term growth, and create new jobs in the region. He believes that greater economic activity in south Punjab will bring great wealth to underdeveloped sections of the province.
The Multan-Lodhran Highway is part of the National Highway (N)-5, which extends from Karachi to Lahore and up to Peshawar. The project is viewed as a crucial link in the road network of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It is particularly crucial due to its central location in the province; it acts as a crucial link route with Balochistan.
In his speech on the occasion, the Prime Minister also emphasized the quick progress in the sectors of public development, particularly the Naya Pakistan Housing Project program, which he described as a vital step toward becoming a welfare state.
