Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasized the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Thursday, reiterating the country’s commitment to completing the CPEC projects as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister made these remarks while speaking with Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong, who had visited him. During the meeting, views were exchanged on China’s experience of poverty alleviation, the COVID-19 situation, and bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister congratulated China’s leadership on achieving the historic aim of eradicating severe poverty in the country, emphasizing that Pakistan was eager to benefit from China’s poverty alleviation and growth experience.
He mentioned that Pakistan is currently dealing with the third wave of COVID-19 and that the government is taking the required steps to tackle it, including devising a comprehensive vaccination strategy for the entire region.
The Prime Minister went on to say that the people of Pakistan were eager to welcome President Xi Jinping to Pakistan as soon as possible.
Ambassador Nong Rong expressed President Xi Jinping’s and Premier Li Keqiang’s warm greetings and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepen relations with China.
He also said that China would do everything possible to assist Pakistan in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak, including providing vaccines as quickly as possible. Ambassador Nong Rong has reaffirmed the Prime Minister’s invitation to visit China.
