During January 2021, SECP reported 227 new construction companies
The Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) reported a total of 227 new construction companies out of 2101 new companies during the month of January 2021. Through an online process, almost 98 percent of businesses were registered, with 34 percent of all businesses registered in a single day. Furthermore, the SECP has announced that the number of companies registered is 10% higher than the previous year’s figures for the same month. Trading with 314 companies, IT with 269, manufacturing, services, and allied sectors attracted 188 companies, and e-commerce reported 79 companies were the other sectors that attracted the most companies. SECP also added that their Islamabad business center increased 24% after 837 companies were registered in January 2021. Although 1,124 other companies in other industries were enrolled by the board in other sectors. The largest number of companies were registered by Business Center Islamabad, followed by 623 and 319 companies registered in CRO Lahore and Karachi respectively. In Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Quetta, and Sukkur, 156, 122, 56, 53, 22, and 13 companies were registered as CROs, respectively. During January, with 2201 new companies registered with the SECP, the total number of registered companies reached 134747. Of the new incorporations, 98% of the firms were online registered and 30% of the applications were completed on the same day. Approximately 69% of companies were registered as private limited companies, while 28% of companies were registered as sole members.
