Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister of Punjab, announced on Sunday the construction of a labor tower in Lahore on land evacuated during an anti-encroachment effort, as well as the evaluation of industrial worker hostel construction.
The chief minister stated during a meeting of the labor department that the labor tower will be constructed by the provincial department. He also commanded that a project of 720 apartments for laborers be completed as quickly as possible.
“We have reclaimed 144 labor apartments from the land mafia in addition to boosting the minimum salary of laborers to Rs20,000, which includes an Rs5,000 rise over the previous two and a half years,” he stated while discussing government steps to improve the labor class’s position in the province.
The meeting also decided to establish employees’ social security institutions and workers welfare fund smart organization.
“We are also establishing social security hospitals in Taunsa, Sargodha, and Faisalabad,” Usman Buzdar added, demanding tough steps to prevent child labor in the province.
