10 economic zones approved along with the Rawalpindi Ring Road project
In a meeting chaired by Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), the Authority approved 10 economic zones to be set up along the Rawalpindi Ring Road project. In order to encourage the business community, construction work in the economic zones will start as soon as possible, which in turn will improve the economy. Members of the Chambers of Commerce and Industries of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, RDA officers Muhammad Junaid Taj Bhatti, Deputy Director of Finance, Azizullah Deputy Director of Engineering, and other related officials participated in the meeting. Earlier, RDA agreed to set up various Special Economic Zones (SEZs) projects to be set up along the 65.8 km long Rawalpindi Ring Road, including commercial, educational, recreational, medical, residential, and metropolis. Furthermore, on both sides of the ring road, a dry port, commercial centers, manufacturing areas, transport terminals, wholesale markets, amusement parks, and residential properties will be built. The development work on the economic zones will be started as soon as possible. RDA chairman said that the business community is the backbone of the country’s economy and concrete steps are being taken to provide facilities to it as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The development work is being done on a priority basis by the government to address the issues faced by the business community during the project’s execution.
